The Esplanade Association: Dock Party

My favorite Boston event of the summer is the Esplanade Association’s Dock Party. Held every July on the Community Boating docks, the Dock Party is the summer fundraiser for this wonderful organization.

The Esplanade Association is the only private non-profit group dedicated to maintaining and improving the Charles River Esplanade. Founded in 2001 because the park had fallen into a state of decline, local community members recognized the need for a park friends group that could help to restore and enhance the Esplanade.

The Charles River Esplanade is one of Boston’s treasures, thousands of people each year use the Esplanade to walk, run, play and just enjoy the beautiful views of the river. When I was training for the Boston Marathon earlier this year, I ran on the Esplanade every day. We are truly blessed to have such a beautiful stretch of land right on our doorsteps. And the Esplanade Association is to thank for all of that! So of course we are always willing to support such a worthy organization.

Although this year I was in Ireland with my mom the week of the Dock Party, the fiancé was able to document the beautiful night that it was!

The Dock Party gives Bostonians a chance to enjoy a delightful summer’s evening right on the water, allowing you to take in the Boston and Cambridge skylines. A night out with friends on the water is something special. And the Esplanade Association makes that happen each July.

I can’t wait for next year and another amazing Dock Party!

The Esplanade Association works with volunteers, members, donors and community partners to ensure that the park remains a resource for everyone to enjoy. With the help of supporters and community partners they have completed some major projects recently: including rebuilding the boating docks, building new playgrounds, revitalizing the Eliot Memorial, and restoring the Hatch Shell Oval lawn.
