The Weather at Shore House

why you should visit the shore house Narragansett ri

September and October are some of the best months to visit Rhode Island in general because the days are warm, but not too hot and the nights are crisp and refreshing. And what makes the Shore House an amazing destination is that you will wake up to the sound of the crashing waves just outside your window, and you have one of New England’s most beautiful seaside boardwalks to enjoy any time of day. Strolling from the Shore House down the boardwalk was one of our favorite activities when we visited. Being right on the water really has its perks.

Plenty of Space at Shore House

Built in 1901, the Shore House has been a classic New England summer getaway since the turn of the 20th century.  In the 1920s, the property became a speakeasy where vacationing New Englanders would sneak drinks during prohibition.

There are even secret passageways in the basement of the hotel, allowing guests to sneak between floors while remaining out of sight of any passersby. Nowadays, this beautifully restored property offers top-notch accommodations in its spacious rooms, which offer views of the ocean, beautifully modern bathrooms, and lots of nautical details. This is just the place to take a break from everyday life and just soak up the ocean breeze in peace and quiet. And with the Fall months, also comes fewer crowds and more space.

Lots to Do

The Shore House is located just a short drive from Newport, so if you want to see the sights in the crisp fall air, the Newport Mansions, downtown Newport, and other activities are just a short drive away. However, on property at the Shore House, there is an amazing new restaurant called Sea Craft and they serve dinner nightly, as well as drinks on the beautiful oceanfront patio all evening long. The scene here is buzzing at night with locals and visitors soaking up this amazing outdoor space—the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating.
