After you have experienced classic Vienna, it’s time to check out the city’s modern side! Labstelle, located right in the heart of the city, not far from the Stephansplatz, is a chic modern eatery that should be at the top of any foodie’s list. We were fortunate enough to snag a reservation on New Year’s Eve and were we in for a treat. With a special menu that night, we got to try some of their amazing dishes as we prepared to ring in the new year!
Hotel Lamee Late Lunch
The Viennese are a sophisticated bunch, and if there is one thing that is clear, they enjoy an afternoon repose, either with some tea or even some cocktails. And the perfect place for an afternoon break is the Hotel Lamee Café Bar Bloom. Centrally located, it’s the perfect spot for a late lunch or a cocktail or two.
We loved the spicy beef tartare and the burrata salad. Oh and we didn’t have time to check it out, but they have a spectacular rooftop bar as well!
Ramien Lunch
Vienna is a modern, diverse city and that means there are culinary influences present from all over the world. And actually there is a large Asian population in the city and that means when your taste buds will never get bored! For a fast and tasty lunch, you need to head to Ramien. With a menu filled with Asian fusion delights like curries, dumplings, rice bowls, and more, Ramien always hits the spot. Oh and they also have an amazing selection of house made juices that pair exceptionally with all the flavorful dishes.
Vestibul Modern Classics
And finally, if you could only have one dinner in Vienna, it must be at Vestibul. Literally housed in the Burgtheater’s old entrance vestibule, the restaurant’s interior is just breathtaking, with original marble all over the place, it is a sight to be seen. The neo-baroque style makes it worth the trip all on its own. And that’s even before you sit down to enjoy the food!
When the food does arrive you will be even happier that you made the trip to Vienna. Each dish is prepared meticulously and with local ingredients that speak to the heritage of the region. The name of the game here is modern classics with a twist. From local wine and fish to the house specialty, the lobster with cabbage, your meal at Vestibul will be one to remember.
And the friendly, hospitable staff make the evening just that much more enjoyable. We can’t wait to come back to Vienna just to try that lobster dish one more time!
