After months of training, the big day is almost here. Marathon Weekend is always a fun time in Boston. The city is buzzing with athletes from all over the world; it is Boston’s time to shine. I am so excited and honored to be running the 122nd Boston Marathon with Team Equinox!
I never thought I would be running the Boston Marathon, but am so happy that I am. What an amazing journey it has been. From running around the Esplanade to attending Equinox’s Precision Running classes, tracking everything on Runkeeper, it has been a difficult but worthwhile experience. As someone who did track in high school, I thought I knew what I was in for, but the Boston Marathon is truly a whole new level of commitment and intensity.
Thankfully when you have the right gear and support team, anything is possible. For shoes, I have been running in Hoka One Ones. On race day I will be using my favorite pair, the Bondi 5s. They are so lightweight and highly cushioned, they really feel like you are running on air.
Unfortunately, it looks like it will be raining all day Monday. So I will be using my rain/wind shell, the Nike Shield Shell, combined with my Nike Dry Element Top. For bottoms, since it will be quite chilly, I will be wearing Lululemon Speed Up Tights. Last for accessories, I’ll be rocking a black waterproof hat from Marathon Sports, a Flipbelt, and Features running socks. Oh and I will of course have a few packs of my Honey Stinger gummies in my Flipbelt!
Experiencing Marathon Weekend as a runner has already been incredible experience so far! I’ve attended the Marathon Expo several times in the past, but as someone going there to actually pick up their racing bib, it was just that much more meaningful. Now as I am getting everything ready for tomorrow morning, I am so excited to be running not only my first marathon but the Boston Marathon!
Be sure to check out the BAA’s website and mobile apps to follow my journey Monday and track my progress! Thank you again to all those that have supported me throughout this journey. #BostonStrong
