Where to Stay during the Summer in London

This time around we stayed at the amazing Athenaeum Hotel right on the park for the perfect walkable homebase for our summer in London getaway. Located in my favorite neighborhood of the city, Mayfair, the Athenaeum is a beautiful hotel filled with courtesy staff and some truly special amenities. From the spacious patio overlooking Green Park to the spa to the beautiful Galvin restaurant, the hotel made for a relaxing stay.

As soon as you walk through the door you feel as if you are already home. The décor is both on trend and cozy, making it a place you would want to sit and unwind with a cup of coffee or tea. Throughout our stay, there were always several people doing just that–especially because we had such amazing summer in London weather!

When we went up to our room we were delighted by the amazing view of the park and the bright, cheery finishes. I could’ve just relaxed and enjoyed the view all day!

What to Do during the Summer in London

Staying in Mayfair provided so many amazing things to do all within short walking distance. After we checked in, we met up with a friend of ours for a leisurely brunch at Aubaine Mayfair. A lovely little spot that we just happened upon as we were strolling through the picturesque streets of Mayfair, Aubaine ended up being the perfect place to start our summer in London getaway.

Their simple brunch menu has everything you need: some quirky appetizers, several versions of egg benedict, avocado toast and bottomless bubbles! Not to mention the perfect outdoor seating perfect for some car spotting.  Can you think of a better way to start the weekend?

After brunch we took a nice long walk around London, passing by Buckingham Palace, the London Eye and Thames, even making our way down to St. Paul’s Cathedral. During our excursion we did walk by Big Ben, but note it is undergoing conservation for the next several years. On a sunny and 70-degree day, there is no better way to spend time in London than by taking in all the sights and sounds outside by foot or bike!

Where to Eat

After a busy day exploring London we headed back to the Athenaeum for dinner at Galvin. With a late summer menu filled with things like Sea Bream with English Peas and Cotswold grilled chicken with Panzanella salad, we knew we were in for a treat. The dishes were light, tasty and very seasonally appropriate. It was the perfect way to refuel after a busy day!

After dinner we strolled down to the Café de Paris for a fun cabaret show. A classic burlesque theater, Cafe de Paris put on some fun shows every weekend!
Like I said, when you stay in Mayfair, there are so many fun places all within walking distance!

In the morning we popped back down to Galvin for a classic English breakfast! The Athenaeum was the perfect place for a quick weekend getaway in London, we can’t wait to come back again soon!
