It is officially the Christmas season! Bring on the hot chocolate, the festive décor, and the jingle bells! Here are my five favorite Christmas getaways to make the holidays just that much more special.
1) Local Christmas Getaways: Boston
My hometown is one of the most beautiful places to spend the holidays. There are Christmas trees all around town, the Common is lit up beautifully with colorful lights on almost all of the trees and there is greenery on the street lamps. For a truly festive experience, head to the Lenox Hotel this season and enjoy one of their amazing fireplace rooms. As soon as you step into the lobby, you feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve.
The décor, the music playing and just the cozy atmosphere puts you in the holiday spirit on your Christmas Getaway. And if you want to do some good, while having a good time also check out their Giving Tea Series. Each Giving Tea features a full afternoon tea service, complete with some delectable pastries and each guest is asked to bring an unwrapped gift, which will be donated to a family in need this season. And the whole series is hosted by the Massachusetts First Lady, Lauren Baker.
2) European Christmas Getaways: Prague
Europe has so many amazing Christmas getaways! And Prague is one of those! Prague has one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in all of Europe and the view of that market from the Old Town Hall is just spectacular.
Grab some mulled wine and stroll through the market, there will probably even be some animal friends to visit as well.
3) Farm Getaways: Tops’l Farm
For a more rustic experience, head north to Tops’l Farm for your Christmas Getaway. This new glamping campground just opened this year and it is truly a magical place, especially around the holidays. The twinkling lights and the rustic accommodations will certainly take you back to nature as you relax and enjoy the beauty of a Maine winter. Maine is a great choice for Christmas getaways!
4) Paris–Do I have to say anything else?
I love Paris any time of year. And Paris is especially magical during the holidays–making it another perfect choice for Christmas getaways.
But the winter is such an interesting time because the crowds are so small you can actually make it to all the big sites without having to shove through hordes of people. The weather can be less than ideal, but all the beauty and croissants are still there waiting for you!
5) New England Christmas Getaways: Vermont
Last but not least, a holiday ski trip is a perfect way to unwind at the end of the year. The fresh air combined with winter wonderland views make for the perfect outdoorsy holiday getaway.
So if you want to get some fresh air while enjoying a festive trip, add Vermont to your Christmas getaway list! And for more ideas on what to do during the holidays be sure to read our posts on the Procrastinator’s Guide to Christmas, Holiday Shopping in Boston, and the Ultimate Holiday Checklist!
