As travel bloggers we always need to find ways to catch up on work while we travel. Whether that means responding to emails, writing articles or editing photos we have to find the time to check some things off the list, while not impeding our experience on the trip. Here are a few ways that we make this happen and work while we travel. Read on for our top working while traveling tips:
1) Working While Traveling: Invest in the Right Tools
We recently attended the HerCampus InfluenceHer Conference in New York City and were fortunate enough to check out the GoDaddy activation.
GoDaddy’s goal is to help people bring their ideas into reality. This is such a great message because as bloggers, we have big ideas, but need help making them happen and having the right tools behind us is so important. Everything from our camera gear to our editing tools to our web infrastructure plays a major role in our business. Being prepared to get your work done is the first step and having the right tools to do that is what enables you to do your best work no matter where you are, especially while traveling! GoDaddy is a great place to start to set yourself up for success when working while traveling!
Be sure to check out GoDaddy for more information on how their tools can help you with your blog or your side hustle!
2) Use Downtime Wisely to Get Work Done While Traveling
This usually means taking advantage of travel time. Time on flights or on trains is the best time to catch up on work while traveling. Writing articles and editing photos is a productive and fun way to spend those long hours in transit. We also like to do this especially on the way home from a trip that way all the experiences are still fresh in our minds and we can really tell the story of the destination best. In this case it’s not really working when traveling, but more reliving our travels!
3) Stick To Your Routine
The hardest thing to get used to as a travel blogger is sticking to your routine no matter where you are. Whether I’m at my office in Boston, on a plane over the Atlantic or in a jungle in Southeast Asia, I still post on Instagram every day, post on my blog once a week and catch up with my inbox at least every other day. Sticking to your routine keeps the work from piling up and keeps you organized so you don’t waste time stressing during trips!
Being a travel blogger is truly a dream come true, but it’s not all 5-star hotels and Michelin starred dinners, there are always emails to answer, IG stories to design, photos to edit and articles to write. Having the right gear, using downtime wisely and sticking to my routine are a few ways that I manage to stay ahead of it all to keep working while travel, since I am never really “out of office.”
