If you’ve been following us on YouTube or Instagram, you know that we recently delivered our first Tesla. We were so excited for the delivery day of our brand-new Tesla Model Y that we vlogged the whole thing! The process of receiving it from the showroom was easy and safe, following all COVID-19 guidelines, and we had a great experience. As soon as we arrived, we grabbed a service advisor and got started! Keep reading for our Tesla Model Y Delivery Day experience!
Tesla Model Y Delivery Day: Exterior Inspection
As you know, I have created a Tesla Model Y Deliver Day Checklist. First on the checklist is examining the exterior of the car very carefully; especially the panel gaps between anything that is moving or can possibly move, such as the trunk, the doors and the charge port. The charge port was the only thing we were a bit worried about and we will still keep an eye for it, because it looked a bit tight in the narrow corner, but they run multiple tests about it and assured us that it’s fully functional.
Interior Inspection
A few things you should look out for in the interior of the car are: is everything is aligned correctly, are there any dirty smudges anywhere and does everything function as it should? Don’t forget to pay attention to greasy and dirty fingerprints, which are common and extremely visible due to minimal headliner, their light beige color, and the large glass roof. You should also check the clothing hooks, the seat belts, folding down the rear seats and being properly attached, as well as the windshields and glass for any defects.
Tesla Service Repairing Door
After finishing the inspection of our new Tesla Model Y, the only issue we found was that the left back door wasn’t fully closing. However, as soon as we reported it to the service center, it got fixed right away.
Tesla Model Y Delivery Day: Cleaning the Dirty Handprints
Once they brought our car back, we installed our Quick Bandit license plate mount, and then our service advisor came over to check the dirty fingerprints on the interior of the car. He was able to use a cleaning solution to wash them off.
Accepting Delivery of Our New Tesla
Once the issues were fixed, it was time to actually accept delivery of our new 2021 Tesla Model Y! We paid some closing costs and started the process of accepting delivery right on our phone.
First Supercharging
While waiting for some final paperwork, we took our Tesla Model Y for its first supercharging.
Connecting Our Phones as Keys and Driving Away in Our New Model Y
Before we left, the service advisor helped us connect our phones as keys for our brand-new car, and then we were ready to go! The whole delivery process took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes. And as soon as we left, we started to make the car our own. We tried autopilot, paired our phones, played Spotify and more! Be sure to follow us on YouTube for more Tesla Model Y updates!
