If you’ve been following along you know that our “Travel Babies” podcast has been one of the biggest projects we have taken on in the past few months. Sharing our travel stories, tips, and tricks with you all in this new format has been so much fun. But like any business, there are a few major things we need to do to grow and scale it. One of the biggest things we have decided to do is launch its very own website! We are creating a second website on WordPress.com all about our podcast. Keep reading to learn why we are creating a website on WordPress.com.
Why We Chose WordPress.com
I initially chose WordPress.com when I built JQLouise.com because it had the reputation of being the top choice for anyone deciding to build their own website. And once I got started, I could see why that was true right away. And it’s for all those same reasons, that we are building our Travel Babies website on WordPress.com as well:
- WordPress.com makes it so easy to get started with their 100s of themes
- Once you have the basis for your site, you can fully customize it to fit your business’ needs
- WordPress.com support is amazing! Whenever I have a question on a feature I am trying to add to my site, they are just a chat away!
Building a Website on WordPress.com
Creating a website on WordPress.com is easy and simple! We are able to choose from 100s of free themes that fit exactly what we want our website to not only look like, but also do for our readers and listeners.

Designing our Website
WordPress.com is the place to go whether you have website design skills or not! But there is definitely no coding necessary if you do not have any experience with websites, however if you are tech-savvy there is so much customization that you can do. Regardless, the place to start is the block-builder. These drag and drop building blocks make it a breeze to design a beautiful website.
What Our Website Will Look Like
For our Travel Babies Podcast website, we wanted it to be focused on our listeners, so we wanted it to be as easy as possible to figure out how to listen to our episodes on all the many platforms our podcast is distributed to. So, we are creating five main pages on our website:
- The Homepage
- About
- Episodes
- Listen
- Contact Us
We are using a few of the pre-made design layouts to show our listeners the most recent episodes, where to find us and how to contact us. Then on the episodes page, this is the place to go if you want to binge our podcast right on the website. And the listen page is where you can see all major platforms, we are distributed on. And finally, the about us and contact us pages are where you can learn about us and how to get in touch.
Why We Choose WordPress.com
Having a website for our podcast is so important because there is a lot of information we need to have in one place. And WordPress.com was the best way to do that. We signed up for the Business Plan, which includes over $300/month of features for only $300/year! This includes all the design tools; instant help chat with WordPress.com professionals and 24/7 tech support for our website while we are building and once we launch.
