Welcome to ‘Travel Talks’, where the world’s foremost explorers, hospitality experts, and wanderlust aficionados share their stories, tips, and insider perspectives, guiding you through the destinations they know best.
This week we are chatting with Camille Grenouiller in Paris. He is the general manager of the Hotel PILGRIM that opened its doors in November last year. Having always been attracted to the hospitality business he decided to join the Vatel Hotel school and started his career in Lyon. Having now managed hotels for about 8 years, he is now running the Hotel Pilgrim in the 5th.
Name the main reason why you love Paris
Paris is a city that is such a gem, you have this history, this brilliant past and also something very anchored in the present with always some new places to discover as for very trendy hotels, bars and restaurants!
What is a hidden gem at the PILGRIM?
I will say without any doubt our stunning spa area with this pool that is a real balance between the brutalist past of the building and the funky 70’s vibes that inspired all the Pilgrim concept.
What is your favorite restaurant or bar nearby?
There are so many nice restaurants in the area, all so different, but if I have to choose one I will say INAGIKU, a Japanese gastronomic style restaurant that offers the finest of Japanese cuisine with a table around the chef preparing everything in front of you.
What is your favorite thing to do in Paris’ peak season?
During peak or off season I have to say I’m always on a the move. I always like to meet friends for an afterwork drink or a meal at a convivial restaurant or just a good dinner at home as I love to host friends and family home. That’s not a coincidence as I’m a hotel manager 😊
But that’s true that during more quiet moment I also love to take time to leave Paris for weekend trip in the countryside or to discover a new city. It is amazing because Paris is so central to lots of destinations.
What are you excited about at Pilgrim right now for the Spring and Summer?
We are currently working on our new cocktail and snacks menu for the spring season and the opening of our rooftop. Sunny days will bring with them some nice surprises, stay tuned!
