Tucked into the White Mountains of New Hampshire, North Conway is one of those classic New England destinations that just never goes out of style—and after a recent weekend getaway at Eastern Slope Inn, I can confidently say it’s more charming than ever.
We stayed at the historic Eastern Slope Inn, a beloved hotel that’s been welcoming travelers since 1937. Located right in the heart of the village, it’s the kind of place where you park your car and forget about it. Everything you could want—from scenic trails to cozy cafés—is within walking distance. The inn itself is full of old-school charm, with warm, inviting interiors, mountain views, and a surprisingly serene indoor pool that made for the perfect post-adventure unwind.

North Conway is known for its natural beauty, and it absolutely delivers. The crisp mountain air, the nearby hiking and walking trails, and the unbeatable access to the White Mountain National Forest make it ideal for outdoor lovers. But what really surprised me was how lively and evolving the town felt, especially around Norcross Place, a walkable cluster of new and noteworthy spots that have added a modern, food-forward energy to this timeless village.

Cheese Louise was our first stop—and let’s just say, a grilled cheese renaissance is happening here. Their creative takes on the classic sandwich are equal parts nostalgic and next-level. Think brie, fig, and prosciutto pressed to perfection. It’s casual, it’s fun, and it’s a must.

Next up, we wandered over to Saco River Brewing, where the rooftop deck serves up some of the best views in town—mountains in the distance, craft beer in hand. The vibe is laid-back but elevated, with an emphasis on small-batch brews and good company. It’s the kind of place where locals and visitors alike end up staying longer than planned.

And then there’s Sap House Meadery, a cozy little spot offering tastings of their locally crafted meads. Mead isn’t something I typically reach for, but this place converted me. From honey-sweet to dry and herbal, their range was surprising and honestly delicious. The intimate setting and welcoming staff made it one of the highlights of the trip.
Of course, no trip to North Conway would be complete without a stroll through the main village—browsing bookstores, gift shops, and local outfitters, all against the backdrop of dramatic mountain peaks. Even in a short weekend, we managed to squeeze in plenty of fresh air, great food, and small-town charm.

North Conway may be a classic New England destination, but it’s also quietly reinventing itself with new energy and creativity—without ever losing its soul. Whether you’re in it for the nature, the food, or just the cozy mountain town vibes, it’s the kind of place that hits reset!
