Taste of Iceland Returns to Boston

This month Inspired by Iceland will be bringing a taste of the land of fire and ice to Boston, with the Taste of Iceland cultural festival. Taking place September 25 – 27th, the Taste of Iceland aims to share the best of Icelandic culture, including food, music, nature, and more! There will be events all around the city, giving Bostonians the chance to experience a little of everything Iceland has to offer.

What to Expect at Taste of Iceland

For foodies, Taste of Iceland will be hosting a series of pop-up dinners with Icelandic Icelandic Chef Bjarki Snær Þorsteinsson and Eastern Standard Chef Brian Rae. The pair will prepare an Icelandic feast Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from 5-9pm. Guests will enjoy a prix fixe menu showcasing ingredients from Iceland. For the science curious, attend the Life Science Innovation in Iceland session, hosted at Venture Café. “Glaciers to Genomes” will give attendees the chance to hear from Icelandic experts in genomics, biotech, health technology. Explore how Iceland’s natural environment helps shape scientific innovation.

For music lovers, experience the spirit of Iceland’s famed Airwaves festival at The Middle East Club in Cambridge. Enjoy Icelandic tunes at this free show featuring 3 different artists from Iceland. For the nature obsessed, experience a Lava Show and learn about the Northern Lights. On Saturday, Taste of Iceland will present a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle, bringing real molten lava to Boston! Experience Lava Show’s portable lava furnace, the only one of its kind in the world! Guests will experience the raw power of a volcanic eruption in a safe and controlled environment. Later in the day, hear from astronomy and science educator, Sævar “Star-Sævar” Helgi Bragason. Attendees will get to experience Iceland through virtual reality, with a focus on Icelandia’s Northern Lights tours, Glacier Hikes, and ATV tours.

How to Attend Taste of Iceland

Most events are free and open to the public. However, some events like the prix fixe pop up dinners at Eastern Standard require a reservation and cost $70 per person. Things like the Lava Show have limited space, tickets are free, but you must reserve them ahead of time. Be sure to check the details for each event you’d like to attend!

Select events will also feature the Wheel of Prizes. Selected guests will have the chance to spin and wheel and win a trip to Iceland!
