The island of Nantucket may be best known as a summer paradise, but after spending a weekend on island for the annual Christmas Stroll with The Nantucket Inn, we’re sure that the island magic is alive and well year-round.
We believe that Nantucket in the off season is something everyone should experience at least once. Travelers can embrace a slower more intimate version of Nantucket without the hustle and bustle that comes with all the tourists in the summer months.
Decked out for Christmas the Nantucket Inn felt less like a hotel and more like a warm, cozy landing place to call home. Festive décor filled the common spaces, the atmosphere felt genuinely cheerful, and the team greeted guests with the ease of people who call home all year long. We enjoyed an amazing weekend celebrating the holidays with friends and enjoying the magic of Nantucket in the winter.

Nantucket, Minus the Crowds
Many hotels and restaurants close for the long winter months following Christmas Stroll, but The Nantucket Inn is one of a handful of places that embrace island life year-round. Certain outdoor amenities like the tennis courts and outdoor pool are closed in the off season. However the indoor pool remains open year round, so be sure to pack your swimsuit! Other amenities will return in April during Daffodil weekend like the complimentary shuttle to town, Nobadeer Café, and NobaBar.
The Nantucket Inn’s event space is also available year-round. The versatile space offers guests the perfect place for weddings, showers, or any festive gathering you’re planning to host in the new year. The Inn’s team of experts can help you put together the event of your dreams!
The off season is the perfect time to enjoy the rugged, natural side of the island. Bundle up for a walk along windswept beach, enjoy an afternoon at the Whaling Museum, or sit down for a cozy dinner with friends. Brotherhood of Thieves is one of our favorite restaurants open through the winter.

Location, Convenience, and Comfort
The Nantucket Inn’s location near Nantucket Memorial Airport is often misunderstood as purely convenient, but in the winter months that convenience becomes a true asset. Winter travel to the island can involve tight schedules and weather considerations, and being close to the airport removes unnecessary friction.
The team behind The Nantucket Inn have thoughtfully designed guest rooms to factor in a year-round experience. They have created a warm welcoming space that will keep guests comfortable even when spending more time indoors. It is the perfect place to unwind and warm up during a winter retreat.

The truth is that Nantucket never really shuts down—it simply reveals a different side of itself. Winter brings festive traditions and quiet charm. Spring feels hopeful and uncrowded. Fall offers crisp air and golden light. Staying somewhere that remains open and engaged with the island year-round allows travelers to experience all of it.
While we can’t wait to play tennis on The Nantucket Inn’s private courts or lounge by the outdoor pool sipping cocktails. We are happy to have a place on island where we can enjoy a quiet winter retreat. The Nantucket Inn is truly a home away from home no matter the season.
