For our first-ever trip to Val d’Isère, we checked into Hôtel Avenue Lodge—and it turned out to be the perfect introduction to Alpine life.

Inside, the vibe is warm and contemporary Alpine: lots of wood tones, cozy textures, and inviting spaces designed for relaxing after long days on the mountain. The rooms are comfortable and modern with plush bedding, generous storage for ski gear, and balconies overlooking the snowy village.
One of the biggest highlights is the spa—a welcome retreat for tired legs. The indoor pool, hammam, and treatment rooms became part of our daily ritual, especially after full days exploring the Espace Killy.
Breakfast at Avenue Lodge deserves its own mention. The generous buffet spread of fresh pastries, eggs, cheeses, and strong French coffee fueled our mornings and quickly became something we looked forward to almost as much as the skiing.

No trip to Val d’Isère is complete without an afternoon at La Folie Douce.
Perched high on the mountain, this legendary open-air venue is where skiing and partying collide in the most wonderfully over-the-top way. DJs spin on sun-drenched terraces, dancers perform in full cabaret costumes, champagne bottles pop, and by mid-afternoon the entire place feels like one giant, glamorous snow globe of celebration.
We spent one unforgettable afternoon there and had so much fun that we lost track of time entirely. What started as a quick post-ski drink turned into hours of music, laughter, and dancing in ski boots under bright blue Alpine skies.
It’s not just après-ski—it’s a full production, and an experience that feels uniquely French and totally Val d’Isère. Whether you come for a long lunch or just a drink before your final run down, La Folie Douce is pure, joyful Alpine energy.
