If you’ve never been to Ibiza before, you might think it’s only about all-night parties and famous DJs. While the island is home to some of the world’s most iconic clubs, Ibiza is also full of beautiful beaches, charming villages, incredible food, and some of the most magical sunsets in the Mediterranean. Here’s a simple guide to help you plan your first summer trip.

When to Go

The main season in Ibiza runs from May through October, when beach clubs, restaurants, and nightclubs are fully open.
- June and September are often the best months to visit—warm weather, vibrant energy, but slightly fewer crowds.
- July and August are the busiest and most expensive months, with the biggest DJs and events.
Where Ibiza Is Located
Ibiza is part of the Balearic Islands, located off the eastern coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is relatively small, which makes it easy to explore different beaches and towns in a single trip.
Where to Stay

Each area of Ibiza has a slightly different vibe:
- Ibiza Town – The most lively area, with restaurants, nightlife, and the historic old town.
- Sant Antoni de Portmany – Famous for sunset bars and a younger party crowd.
- Santa Eulària des Riu – A quieter, more relaxed area with great restaurants and beaches.
For first-time visitors, Ibiza Town offers the best mix of culture, nightlife, and access to beaches.
Explore the Old Town 🏰

One of the most beautiful places on the island is Dalt Vila, a UNESCO-listed hilltop citadel overlooking Ibiza Town. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets, discover boutique shops, and enjoy incredible views of the harbor.
Beach Clubs Are a Must 🏖️

Ibiza is famous for its stylish beach clubs where you can spend the day lounging, swimming, and enjoying music and cocktails.
Some of the most popular include:
- Blue Marlin Ibiza
- Nikki Beach Ibiza
- Cala Bassa Beach Club
Arrive early for lunch and plan to stay through the afternoon as the atmosphere builds.
Experience the Legendary Nightlife
Ibiza is home to some of the most famous clubs in the world. Even if you’re not a huge clubber, experiencing at least one night out is part of the Ibiza experience.
Iconic venues include:
- Pacha Ibiza
- Ushuaïa Ibiza
- Hï Ibiza
Many clubs host weekly residencies from top international DJs throughout the summer.
Don’t Miss the Sunsets 🌅

Ibiza is known for spectacular sunsets, especially along the island’s west coast. One of the most famous spots is Café del Mar, where visitors gather each evening to watch the sun drop into the sea.
Rent a Car and Explore 🚗

While taxis are common, renting a car makes it easier to discover Ibiza’s hidden beaches and small villages. Some of the most beautiful beaches include:
- Cala Comte
- Cala Bassa
- Cala d’Hort
Cala d’Hort is especially famous for its view of the mysterious rocky island of Es Vedrà.
What to Eat 🍽️
Ibiza’s food scene blends Mediterranean flavors with international influences. Some classic dishes to try include:
- Bullit de peix – a traditional Ibizan fish stew
- Fresh grilled seafood
- Paella
- Local rosé or cava
Many beach clubs also serve excellent sushi and modern Mediterranean cuisine.
The Ibiza Vibe

What makes Ibiza special is its balance: you can spend the morning swimming in crystal-clear water, the afternoon relaxing at a beach club, and the evening dancing under the stars. It’s glamorous but also relaxed, energetic but deeply beautiful.
For first-time visitors, the best approach is simple—slow down, explore the beaches, enjoy the sunsets, and let the island’s rhythm guide you.
Ibiza, the White Isle, is one of the big 5 Mediterranean spots: Monaco, Cannes, St. Tropez, Capri and Ibiza. Those are the big ones if you are a lover of sun, sand, and celebrities. (No just kidding, don’t worry, these beautiful places aren’t stuffed with Page 6-ers all year round, and I’ll tell you when to go to avoid those crowds). If you haven’t been to Ibiza yet, I’m sure these photos will convince you to make the plunge this year.

When to Go
We are actually coming up on my favorite time in Ibiza—Easter preview week. If you’re going to Ibiza I’m assuming that you will be going to a few of the famous nightclubs. Which means that you need to go at the perfect time during the shoulder season in order to avoid the massive crowds that are there in July, but at the right time so that places are actually open. During the week surrounding Easter many clubs will have special “preview parties”, which makes this a great time to visit. However, late April/early May is also a great time because even more places will be open and the weather will be fantastic! And you may even have some of these gorgeous beaches all to yourself.

Let the wanderlust wash over you like the warm water of the Mediterranean that you could be swimming in right now if you were in Ibiza!
