If the idea of stargazing and witnessing wildflowers bloom under blue skies makes you smile, you may want to head to Arizona this spring. Now is a great time to visit The Grand Canyon State with direct flights to Phoenix from Boston and a fleet of towering Saguaro cacti waiting with open arms. We curated a trio of properties to consider in Scottsdale and Sedona worth visiting this spring.
Rock-solid resort
The Boulders
If you adore the serenity and beauty of nature, you’ll love the eco-friendly design and tranquil vibe at The Boulders. Its 1,300 acres seamlessly blend with its home on earth, the Sonoran Desert. The Boulders’ moniker was inspired by the 12 million-year-old granite boulder formations you will spot while meandering around the pristine grounds.
“During the spring season, our guests can enjoy blue skies, an abundance of desert wildflowers in bloom, and ideal weather for a round of golf, outdoor activities, and our beautiful wellness spa.”
According to John Maskovich, General Manager of The Boulders
There’s so much to do at this celebrated hideaway that features two 18-hole championship golf courses, four swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, four onside restaurants, and a 33,000 square foot spa (if you go be sure to experience the Jade Stone Facial). It’s the ideal base for a plethora of activities like rock climbing, desert jeep excursions, desert hikes, bicycling, and nature and wildlife tours.
Playing on the Boulders South Course was a highlight of the visit. Lush and spotless fairways with tee boxes like plush carpets and backdrops of boulders, cacti, and mountains in the distance made for a spectacular experience. Rest your head at one of the guest casitas or villas that are shaped into the natural terrain. So lovely to bloom in the desert!
Hip hideaway
The Wilde Resort and Spa
The ride into Sedona sets the stage for magic. The road is a breathtaking landscape brimming with red rocks, braided juniper trees, and a calming energy beckoning you to let go and experience the sheer beauty of nature.
Perfectly perched at the base of Thunder Mountain, The Wilde offers an invitation to kick back and enjoy. The boutique hotel features 105 spacious and contemporary guest rooms and suites but it is the outdoors where you will find a magical Zen-like peace. Whether you take a slow meditative walk about the labyrinth, stargaze from the property’s rooftop, or canoodle around the firepits, you will enjoy the chill vibe. Be sure to pop into The Wilde Haven’s Spa and enjoy a heavenly treatment like the Seven Sacred Pools. You’ll leave feeling energized and balanced after your seven chakras get some TLC with essential oils. The ritual is the perfect way to lean into the great energy of the boutique hotel.
Elevated experiences
JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa
JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa is the brand’s award-winning resort beautifully nestled on 125 acres of Sonoran Desert terrain. The property has everything you need to enjoy the authentic spirit of the Southwest. Although Scottsdale is nearby, one could stay on the property for the duration rambling around the gorgeous grounds sprouting lush gardens, enjoying views of Camelback Mountain, a desert spa treatment, or a round of golf on one of the two 18-hole courses. A highlight of the visit was dinner at Lincoln Steakhouse & Bar, a modern American steakhouse with an expansive menu and an innovative cocktail menu, a selection of craft beers, and an extensive wine list.
