Birthdays, anniversaries, and all big life moments deserve to be celebrated. And just like traveling, celebrations are serious business—especially when it comes to birthdays. When you are planning your significant other’s birthday celebration, the details are everything. Since it’s the thought that counts, you better do a lot of thinking when it comes to planning the perfect date night!

Getting Started
Whenever you are planning a big celebration for the special someone in your life, you should start the planning process by brainstorming what makes them happy and what will have meaning for the two of you. My boyfriend always spoils me whenever it’s about me, so this was my turn to give him a special day.
Dinner
For dinner I chose the Top of the Hub, which is honestly the one of the most romantic places in Boston. It has it all: excellent food, impeccable service and amazing views! The Top of the Hub has one of the best food and wine programs in Boston and on a Friday night it is buzzing, the atmosphere is perfect for an intimate dinner. If you are looking for a place to celebrate something special in your life, this is the place to go.

Whenever I am there for an occasion like a birthday, I always choose the 5 Course-Tasting Menu, and you just have to do the wine parings. They are incredible!

However, we couldn’t resist also ordering an a la carte appetizer—the tuna tartar, it is to die for!

The first course, the Crab Louis, paired with a glass of Taittinger, just transported me straight to summertime. So crisp, and delicious it was an amazing way to start the night.

With the third course came the first red wine paring, and with the bacon-wrapped scallop, it was just divine. I’m usually not a red wine person, but that Petite Sirah may have just changed my mind.

And the main course was a “ Grilled Tenderloin of Beef au Poivre”.

Top of the Hub never fails to make your special occasion even more special, look at this wonderful dessert they brought us for a finale! What a wonderful end to a wonderful meal.

Night Out
To wrap up a fabulous day, we went to a charity event that some of my friends had planned, the Toast to St. Jude. The Toast to St. Jude is a lovely event held in Boston every spring to raise money for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Charity galas are fantastic, you get to support wonderful causes by having fun, what’s not to like?
A custom suit, a delicious dinner and a night out in the name of charity, what more could you ask for on a birthday date night?
