Late summer is a special time in Boston; with school starting and people coming back from the Cape, the atmosphere is electric. And that combined with the warm weather makes it an amazing time to be in the city. So come to Boston and indulge!
Pamper
First off, it’s going to be sandal weather for at least another month so don’t neglect those toes. Treat yourself to a mani-pedi at MiniLuxe on Newbury Street or in the Pru. These ladies will take care of you. As a brand that prides itself on cleanliness and customer service, you will not be disappointed. Pro tip: go for the hybrid polish. It lasts like gel and comes off like regular polish.
Dine
Next, treat yourself to that “special” meal you’ve been pushing off all season. Summer is the time to celebrate and even the small victories deserve some attention. Here are my picks for all your last minute celebratory meals:
South End Alfresco Brunch
Tapas are always a good idea—especially when they are served alfresco alongside a make your own Bloody Mary bar at Barcelona Wine Bar. This is perfect place to celebrate with friends on one of the few remaining lazy summer Sunday afternoons
Cambridge Adventure
Dine with the cool kids in Cambridge at Craigie on Main. With one of the most inventive set menus around, Chef Tony Maws does not disappoint. Pro tip: sit at the chef’s counter for a front row seat to all the action in the kitchen.
Ultimate Fine Dining
The crown jewel in Barbara Lynch’s empire is Menton, located in the seaport. No occasion is too special—engagements, anniversaries, births and any other big life moment will be honored with a feast of deliciousness at Menton.
Pro tip: the “Into Evolution Menu” is the restaurant’s premier culinary journey.
A Chic European Evening
When Daniel Boulud graced Boston with his Bar Boulud restaurant last year, foodies from all around flocked to the Boylston Street hotspot. And not much has changed! Bar Boulud is another excellent choice for a stylish and tasty evening out.
Pro tip: share a few of the appetizers with the table, everything is so fresh and light, you will feel as if you have transported to the French Riviera!
Party
As summer nears its end, so do lenient work schedules, so go out and party while you can! You’ve been working hard all year; you deserve a night out or two!
Start the night off with after work drinks at The Brahmin in the Back Bay. Sip on some craft cocktails made with local New England spirits, like this Triple 8 Vodka (Nantucket) Blueberry Lemonade.
Just sit back and relax with some friends on the patio and enjoy that summer breeze.
Then head over to the W Boston to keep the party going at The Gallery. Do dinner and drinks here and see where the night takes you.
Where to Stay
If you are from out of town, I highly recommend spending one of the last summer weekends at the W and partying into fall because at the W you are guaranteed to have a great night. Pro tip: get one of the “Cool Corner Rooms”.
If you are Bostonian looking to end the summer with a bang or an out-of-towner seeking one last summer getaway, the W Boston is the place for you. The chicest spot around, the W never disappoints. Whether you are enjoying a cocktail in The Gallery or having some friends up to your room to get ready for a night out in Boston’s theater district, you’ll be glad you chose the W. The location, amenities and service are all first class.
