Fall in New England is a special time of year. The air is crisp again, the leaves change color and all things cozy are back in vogue. One of our favorite things to do this time of year is to road trip across the region to explore all it has to offer. We recently checked out a spot that was both familiar and new to us, West Hartford, Connecticut. Read on to hear all about where we stayed, where we ate and what we did to learn how to spend Fall in Connecticut.
Enjoying Fall in Connecticut
Connecticut is a Southern New England state and is centrally located for both Bostonians and New Yorkers. There are lots of places to take in the Fall foliage, once the leaves begin to turn and there are lots of classic New England villages to explore as well. However, on our recent trip to Connecticut we visited one of their more modern attractions, the Delamar Hotel and Blue Back Square in West Hartford, but don’t worry, both still have lots of that New England charm!
Staying at the Delamar West Hartford this Fall
The Delmar Hotel in West Hartford is a newer luxury hotel located in the happening Blue Back Square in the center of town. West Hartford is a tony part of central Connecticut and the chic Delamar Hotel fits right into the neighborhood. With 114 rooms, it is not a small property. Many rooms offer balconies, and all have modern furnishing and Bulgari toiletries. They have an onsite spa and an on-property restaurant.
One quick thing to note is that due to COVID, they are not offering valet service, so guests need to park in a nearby garage. So, plan on pulling up to the hotel to check in and drop off your bags, but then you will need to drive down the block to park.
The staff is very attentive and friendly and the location in Blue Back Square makes the hotel very convenient to local dining and shopping! So, if you are looking for a spot to stay for a fall trip to Connecticut, Delamar is the place to go!
Dining at Artisan West Hartford
If you are visiting West Hartford this Fall be sure to make a reservation at Artisan West Hartford. Their luscious patio is just the garden party you wish you could attend. With tables place strategically throughout the garden you truly feel as if you are in the middle of a countryside estate.
Their classic bistro menu is prepared with a modern flair and the patio is buzzing nearly every night of the week. Come with friends or family for the perfect night out under the stars. The candles and ambiance make for a cozy patio even as the nights start to get a little chilly during visits this Fall.
On our recent trip to Delamar West Hartford we tried the Chicken Breast and the Angus Fillet, with a pasta dish to start and a delectable lava cake for dessert!
Fall in Connecticut for the Foodie
This local destination is perfect for the foodie to visit this Fall because Blue Back Square is filled with cafés and eateries worth checking out. Here are a few we would recommend.
Hartford Baking Co.
The first is Hartford Baking Co. Just a few minutes’ walk down the street from the Delamar Hotel. Head here for breakfast sandwiches and some fantastic cold brew each morning. Their E-BAT is just perfect!
Mecha Noodle Bar
Second, is Mecha Noodle Bar. As the days start to get chillier, a big bowl of noodles is what does the trick and Mecha Noodle Bar in West Hartford serves up some amazing bowls of both Pho and Ramen! So, whether you are craving Vietnamese or Japanese flavors, the team here has got your covered. The trendy interior is very pleasing, and the service is great!
