JQ: This is Travel Babies. We’re just two sisters trying to travel the world in style, but sometimes things don’t go as planned. Each week we talk about important travel topics to help you decide when, where and how to explore the world in style. I’m JQ from JQ Louise.com.
Juliana: And I’m Juliana from Travel with Juliana. And before we get started, don’t forget to subscribe and give us a five star review. If you enjoy our podcast, it really helps us a lot.
JQ: OK, so in last week’s episode we talked all about what to avoid when planning a girls trip. And this week we’re talking about where to go for your bachelorette. So I know that so many people have had to postpone big trips like this. So hopefully our tips and tricks will help you guys really start to think about how to reschedule and just kind of get you motivated to reschedule those trips.
Best Bachelorette Party Destinations: Miami
Juliana Yeah, exactly. So obviously, our first choice is Miami. You know, we went there for years. I probably would want to go there for mine. It’s such a great destination.
JQ Yeah. I mean, Miami is perfect for any girls trip, especially a bachelorette, which is usually a bigger girls trip. So, I mean, there’s so many reasons why. I mean, the first one is just it’s super convenient and accessible.
Juliana: Yeah. I mean, there’s so many direct flights, you know, from Boston or New York. And, you know, it’s only like a three hour flight, maybe three and a half. But it’s just so easy to get there. You know, you’re right in. You fly right into into either Miami or Fort Lauderdale. And it’s you’re pretty much in the same area. So either of them are really convenient.
JQ: Yeah. And the flights are usually really cheap and there’s like plenty of flights.
Juliana: Exactly. I mean, even like I’ve been checking the flights during covid from, you know, to go from Boston, Miami, just because I want warmer weather. And they’re obviously really cheap now. But even before covid, they were really cheap.
JQ: Yeah. So it’s super convenient. So especially for something like a bachelorette party where you probably have girls coming in from different cities, from most major cities. Miami is very accessible and affordable.
Juliana: Yeah. And I mean, like going to Miami during, you know, during covid. I mean, you’ve been going there a lot lately and it’s like super fun. Everything is really safe because it’s pretty much all outside. So, you know, that would be a great choice if you’re trying to do, you know, a low key version of a bachelorette party in Miami because of covid, you can still have a lot of fun. So I wouldn’t you know, I wouldn’t even want to, like, wait that much if I if I wanted to do a bachelorette party, like, now.
JQ: Yeah, I totally agree. And since there’s so many hotels, I mean, you can really, you know, pick and choose based on what you want to do on your bachelorette party, like, you know, do you want to have a super luxurious one? Do you want to be more low key? Do you want to be by the beach? Do you want to be downtown? You know, what do you want to do? There’s so many options and there’s so many amazing hotels to choose from. I mean, just you really can’t go wrong.
Juliana: Exactly. And I mean, Miami is like small enough that you can go to the beach one day. You can spend a whole day in downtown. You could spend a whole day in like Wynwood. So there’s so many different options and it’s all pretty convenient even if you choose, OK, I want our hotel to be right on the beach, but I want to spend one day downtown walking around so there’s just so many good options.
JQ: Yeah. And like Uber are so readily available and
Juliana: they’re like two minutes. Yeah.
JQ: And they’re pretty cheap too compared to like, you know for how far you’re going sometimes. So I don’t know. Miami, just a perfect weekend trip, like no matter who you’re going with. That’s why I love it so much.
Juliana: Yeah I know. I really want to go back to Miami and I mean there’s again, there’s just like so many different things to do in terms of activities. I mean, when we went, obviously, we wanted to just sit at the beach or the pool most of the time because, you know, we’re in Miami and that’s what we love to do. And then at night, we would go to some of the best restaurants ever and then go to a club like there’s so much fun nightlife. And I feel like all of that is definitely going to come back. You know, when covid is mostly gone and even now there’s all these beach clubs like you’ve been going to. So that’s a really fun. That would be great for bachelorette party, too.
JQ: Yeah. I mean, right now. So all the nightclubs are closed right now in Miami, but there’s plenty of beach clubs that you can go to and they’re really taking all the covid precautions very seriously with social distancing and masks and spacing between, you know, the tables in the different areas. So definitely check those out. I mean, there’s so many and actually a bunch of new ones have been opening up over the past few months. So there’s some really cool spots to check out. And they’re really perfect for large groups.
Juliana : Yeah, I know. I was going to say, like, when you when you and Drew went, was it mostly like smaller tables and they had like kind of cabana style things like they would, you know, like they do at the beach or pool in most of these hotels, like how was the setup?
JQ: So it definitely varies. I mean, there’s plenty of these cabana style setups. And I know there are some like restrictions on how many people before covid you’d have like 20 or 25 people sometimes at these cabanas. Yeah, so I know there definitely are a few restrictions, but I’ve seen groups of 10 at most of these places. And I mean, you can have a blast. I mean, especially some of the newer clubs. They have some really cool, like layouts and decor, like my favorites, Joyo Beach. And it’s a really cool like Mykonos themed beach clubs with Super Mediterranean, really good vibe there. And the food’s awesome. You’re right on the water. I mean, just something like that I think is perfect for a bachelorette party.
Juliana: Yeah. Because honestly, just being outside, like eating outside, you know, having a drink right by the beach is just a fun way to spend with your friends.
JQ: Yeah, exactly. So definitely check out Miami and our next recommendation is Las Vegas.
Best Bachelorette Party Destinations: Las Vegas
Juliana: Yeah. I mean, I love Vegas. I think, you know, it’s another classic girls trip destination. So going with your friends, you know, or for just a bachelorette party is great. And, you know, it’s a little bit more it’s different than Miami because it’s, you know, still like one of those really fun cities and a little bit more glam. It’s not, you know, on the beach. So it’s just a different vibe. But again, like one of those classic girls trip destinations.
JQ: Yeah. And I think Vegas is perfect for a group that really wants to go all out. I mean, this is a place where you can literally do anything and you can spend as much money as you want. Yeah, it’s definitely easy to spend a lot of money in Vegas, so definitely keep that in mind, especially if you really want to have like that ultra-luxury experience, you know, expect it to be pricey. Yeah, but, you know, you can have so much fun.
Juliana: Yeah, exactly. And I mean, it’s just like Miami, it’s super accessible. So, you know, you can probably if you’re you know, you can get a good deal on a flight and then spend a lot of money on the hotel so you can kind of plan the trip out that way. And, you know, like you said, there’s so many really luxurious hotels, so there’s plenty to choose from.
JQ: Yeah. And there’s so many, like, cool experiences you can have at these hotels because, you know, you are in Vegas. So there’s lots of themed hotels. There’s hotels within a hotel like some of these ultra luxury things like the Nobu Hotel at Caesars. So, you know, if you really want to go all out with your friends, I mean, this is the place to do it. And if you go when it’s warm enough, there’s lots of pool parties going on. Hopefully those will be able to, you know, be open this summer after covid is over. But, you know, there’s so many fun things you can do, whether, you know, you’re into gambling or not. Like honestly, doesn’t even matter if you want to gamble because there’s so many things to do. You know, there’s some amazing spa’s in Vegas. I mean, I went to the spot Caesars last year and it was unreal.
Juliana: What did you guys do there?
JQ: So we got like these crazy massages. They actually have like a whole, like water therapy area to like lots of different, like, sauna pools, all that kind of thing. And then they also have like an amazing regular outdoor pool, too. So, I mean, there’s so many things you can do in Vegas. Oh, and don’t forget about all the entertainment, all the shows. So I know that’s a lot of that’s been on hold during the pandemic. But, you know, once things fully open back up, I mean, you know, going to a show or like a comedy show or magic show with your friends can be a great addition to your night.
Juliana: Yeah, I love to go to shows. I mean, honestly, whenever I go to a new city, like every anytime in Paris specifically, obviously I’ve been there a bunch of times, but I, I’m always like, let’s go see a show, a dance show, you know, a ballet like something more classical or something more avant garde. Like I’m all for seeing shows. It’s just a perfect way to start the night or we to end the night with your friends. It’s a great addition.
JQ: Exactly, and in Vegas, I mean, get ready for long nights because, you know, you can literally keep partying all night long if you want to, and it’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into. So plan everything out. I mean, this is definitely a city where you want to do your research because like we said, it gets expensive very quickly. So, you know, plan on, OK, maybe we’ll do a pool party one day, we’ll go to a nightclub another day will go to a really high end dinner, another day like pace yourself, but also make sure you have everything planned so that you can get exactly what you want.
Juliana: Yeah. And I mean, you know, planning to is just so important so that, you know, like Jacqueline said, what you’re getting into, but you just know how much you’re spending each day. And to, you know, OK, I want to only do a really nice dinner on one day because if we did it at two places, it might not be worth it, like, you know, really know what you’re getting yourself into.
JQ: Yeah. And like, don’t overdo it. Like, plan on. OK, we’ll go to this place for drinks before dinner, then we’ll go to dinner, then maybe we’ll go to a show, then we’ll go to a club afterwards. Like don’t try to jam in like going to drinks before the show and going to drinks after, after the show then go into a club like really pace yourself because especially you’re with a big group, you want to keep everyone on the same page the whole night so that everyone’s having the same amount of fun. You don’t want people going to crazy or feel left out. So, you know, Vegas is definitely one of those places where you have to pace yourself.
Juliana: Yeah, for sure.
Favorite Bachelorette Destinations: Scottsdale, AZ
Juliana: OK, so our third recommendation is Scottsdale, Arizona. I feel like this has been becoming one of those classic girls trip destinations in the last few years. I mean, they’ve been having some cool pool parties open up, cool hotels open up, and it’s kind of a blend of Vegas and Miami. It kind of has the same vibe, but it’s a little bit more low key.
Juliana: Yeah. So I know you went there for one of your friend’s bachelorette party. So, you know, where do you guys stay? What did you guys do? You know, what was your favorite part of it?
JQ: Yeah. So I went for my friend Tess’s bachelorette party back in 2019 and we had so much fun. I mean, it was I mean, Scottsdale’s a beautiful place and there’s so many things that you can do. And it really depends on how much time you have. I mean, it’s just like, you know, like Vegas, you’re in the desert. It’s going to be hot. There’s lots of pool parties you can go to. There’s some really great restaurants to go to, but it’s just a little bit more laid back. So, you know, if that’s the tone of your group, you know, maybe choose Scottsdale over Vegas if you still want kind of that classic like pool party girls trip vibe. And it can also be a little bit more affordable than Vegas, especially if you’re going with, like a huge group. You know, maybe this is a better option. And it’s also pretty much as convenient as Vegas in terms of flights. So you fly into the Phenix Airport and then Scottsdale’s like twenty minutes away. So super convenient. I know a lot of the airlines usually have flight deals here, plenty of direct flights. So, I mean, this is another really convenient option.
Juliana: So where did you guys eat there.
JQ: Like how are the restaurants compared to you know, Vegas or Miami. Yeah. So it’s definitely a little bit more casual, but you can go to some cool places like we actually went to like a rodeo when we were there.
Juliana: Oh that’s cool.
JQ: And we saw like, you know, actual like bull riding and like all kinds of stuff like that. So you can see a little bit more of the western side of things. So, you know, that can be fun. And it’s kind of gets back to what we’re just saying about seeing a show. I mean, there’s definitely some like entertainment that you can go to in Scottsdale and in Phenix. So I would definitely recommend this.
Juliana: Yeah, I mean, I know you’re like I’ve been seeing more and more people do like bachelorette parties there, too, like I’ve seen on Instagram, people posting. So definitely is becoming like one of those main bachelorette destinations. So it is it seems nice because it’s like if you don’t want that really like high key Vegas experience, then it seems like a good alternative.
JQ: And it kind of reminds me of like Palm Springs in California, like it’s that desert, kind of like cool esthetic look. So, you know, if your friends are really into photos and Instagram and everything, this could be a great option where, you know, you maybe rent a house and you guys can take a lot of, like, really cool photos. So, again, just another great option.
Boston, MA
Juliana: Yeah. So, OK, let’s just move on to our last kind of, you know, recommendation. So obviously we live in Boston, we’ve been here for a long time. We love it. You know, staying in Boston or whatever city you’re in can be a great option, too, specifically in Boston. I mean, we have so many good restaurants pre covid. There’s always a ton of nice shows to go to, you know, really cool, different types of clubs. So I think, you know, you can utilize your own city to do to have a really fun bachelor party, too. Yeah.
JQ: And I think this is a really good. Especially this year, when people are still kind of not into traveling as much, maybe you want to stay closer to home. So, you know, whatever city you’re in, you can have a fun weekend there. I mean, like book, a hotel book, an Airbnb plan, a nice place to go for drinks plan, a nice dinner. You know, hopefully, you know, nightlife will be open soon and shows or if you just want to have a relaxing weekend, you know, book a few spa treatments for you and your friends.
Juliana: Yeah, exactly. I mean, one of my favorite there’s so many good spots in Boston, but one of my favorite restaurants and, you know, kind of lounges to go to is Yvonnes. That’s like I feel like that’s the perfect place for a girl, like a group of girls, because it’s you know, it’s kind of like the lighting in there is super cool. The chandelier is like it’s just a really cool spot. And so, you know, you can you can do a dinner there. You can just reserve one of the tables in the lounge, you know, starting with drinks there. And then doing a dinner somewhere else could also be a good option. So, you know, like Jacqueline said, if you’re a little bit apprehensive about traveling because of covid, but you still want to do something with it with your group of friends, that could be a great option.
JQ: Yeah, I mean, Yvonne is amazing. Like, I love it. I mean, I can’t wait to go back because it’s so much fun. I mean, they have amazing cocktails. The food is so delicious and it’s made for groups of people to have fun there.
Juliana: Yeah, exactly. It’s not really like it’s not just one of those restaurants where you go with, like, your partner and you just go to have dinner. It’s I feel like it is definitely made for a group.
JQ: Yeah. I mean, the menu super shareable. They even have some like large format drinks that you can share with your group. And I don’t know, it’s just so much fun. And it’s a great Instagram spot, too. I mean, it’s super esthetically pleasing, super pretty. There’s so many like cool art, pieces of artwork. And the chandelier is like Juliana said, so definitely check out Yvonnes. And also, don’t forget about your own city. You can be creative and create a really cool experience for you and your friends while just staying closer to home. Yeah.
Juliana: And, you know, one other thing we want to mention, too, is just if you don’t, you know, want to do one of these classic, like girls trip destinations, you know, you can get creative, you can rent a cabin somewhere, you can explore a new city, like do whatever obviously, if it’s you know, the bride kind of has the final say. So you, you know, choose exactly what type of trip you want to do. You know, your friends, I’m sure, will be happy to go along with it. If you just want to be somewhere remote, do that. If you want to go to a brand new city you’ve never been to before, do that. But make sure you do your research. There’s just so many good options.
JQ: Yeah, exactly. OK, we hope you got some great ideas on where to go for your bachelorette party. Catch us next week for our girls trip packing tips.
Juliana: Thanks, JQ.
JQ: Thanks, Juliana.
