A taste of tradition with a Boston twist: dinner at Blue Ribbon Brasserie

As the sun-bathed Kenmore Square in a golden glow, I found myself drawn to the doorstep of Blue Ribbon Brasserie, the iconic restaurant that recently marked the beginning of its second chapter in Boston. With its roots tracing back to the bustling streets of New York City 31 years ago, this revered dining destination has now found a new home in one of Boston’s hottest entertainment districts.

Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting ambiance that permeated the space. Designed by chef-brothers Bruce and Eric Bromberg, the vision behind Blue Ribbon Brasserie was clear – to create a modern take on the classic brasserie experience, infused with a uniquely Bostonian charm.

The interior was a sight to behold, with a 70-foot white Carrera marble bar taking center stage, flanked by a showstopping oyster bar and cozy leather banquettes. Tamboured wood paneling painted in rich aubergine, hand-made encaustic tiles, and Flowerpot pendants added a touch of classic elegance, while panoramic windows bathed the dining room in natural light, offering stunning views of the surrounding neighborhood.

Perusing the menu, I was excited to sample Blue Ribbon’s genre-defining classics. We started our culinary journey with a creamy hummus plate, followed by a refreshing crab salad and the classic escargots, each dish expertly crafted and bursting with flavor.

For the main course, I opted for the quintessential brasserie dish – steak frites. The tender Bavette steak, perfectly cooked to my liking, was accompanied by a generous serving of golden fries and a peppery sauce that elevated the dish to new heights.

As I savored each bite, it was clear that Blue Ribbon Brasserie had succeeded in capturing the essence of classic brasserie dining while adding their own unique twist.

And no meal would be complete without dessert. We indulged in a slice of decadent chocolate cake, its rich, velvety texture melting in our mouths with every bite, a perfect conclusion to our culinary adventure.

As I finished my meal, I was so grateful for the opportunity to experience Blue Ribbon Brasserie in all its glory. With its impeccable cuisine, elegant ambiance, and warm hospitality, it was truly a dining experience to remember.
