Summertime in Boston involves the Esplanade in some way, shape or form. Whether we are watching the Fireworks from its banks on 4th of July, listening to a concert at the Hatch Shell or jogging through the park at lunchtime, Bostonians appreciate all that the Esplanade gives us. And the Esplanade Association is the steward of this wonderful area of the city.

Last Thursday, the Esplanade Friends Council hosted the 6th Annual summer “Dock Party” to raise money to restore the Esplanade’s historic Lotta Fountain.

Because this is one of the premier events of the season, I decided to leave my hair to the professionals. Jessica at the Green Room on Beacon Hill is a miracle worker. Even with temps in the high 90s and humidity of what had to be 100%, she managed to somehow wrangle my hair into silky waves that lasted through the evening.

The Dock Party is really a celebration of summertime in Boston—guests enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, a golden skyline sunset and maybe a little rosé; if you missed it this year definitely put it on your calendar for 2017!

Actually maybe quite a bit of rose…and white and red and Prosecco!

I love the Dock party so much because not only are you supporting a fabulous organization that protects one of Boston’s most beautiful areas, but you also get to spend a gorgeous summer evening right on the Charles.
