Boston Common, Public Garden and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall are the oldest public parks in America and the Friends of the Public Garden is the non-profit that works tirelessly to ensure these beautiful parks continue to flourish. Because I live so close to the parks, I get to enjoy their beauty every single day, so I appreciate all the hard work that goes into their upkeep and maintenance. And what a better way to support such a wonderful cause than the Summer Party at the Taj Hotel?

This past Wednesday, myself and 224 other guests wined and dined on the rooftop of the historic Taj Hotel overlooking the very park we were there to support.

The view is amazing from the top of the Taj.

Proceeds from the event go directly to park maintenance, including: care of 1,700 trees, conservation of 42 pieces of public art in the parks and general turf care and restoration.

It’s amazing to see the wealth of support that the Friends of the Public Garden receives each year at the Summer Party. Bostonians of all ages were there supporting something that we all hold so dear, our town common. As New Englanders, we cherish these parks as they are so central to the heartbeat of our towns and cities.

I would like to say thank you to the Friends of the Public Garden for a wonderful evening and for taking care of our precious Boston Common, Public Garden and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall.
