We all need a chance to unplug once in a while. And there is no better place to do so than Tops’l Farm in Waldoboro, ME. When you visit, you are encouraged to slow down and just enjoy nature. Read on to hear about our weekend glamping at Tops’l Farm.
Tops’l Farm
When you arrive, you drive down a long road past a beautiful open field to a car park just outside of the campsite. There are two options for accommodations at Tops’l Farm: tents or cabins.
We had a cabin, an A-frame wooden structure, with a huge window in back that lets all the light in. This is glamping at its finest; no heat, no electricity, just you and your friends in nature.
But don’t worry there are electric outlets available in the bathhouse, so you can charge your phone.
Dining at Tops’l Farm
For any visit you can request a cooler to be stocked with goods to be ready when you arrive, or you can purchase those items at the general store when you get there. We had a cooler packed with some breakfast items and their gourmet smores.
Campfire coffee and donuts are the perfect way to wake up in the Maine woods!
And these had to be the best smores we’ve ever had! The gourmet chocolate and the cinnamon sugar crusted graham crackers made for the perfect bite!
We were also so fortunate to be able to attend a “Yurt Dinner” the weekend we were there. Apart from their main campsite, Tops’l also has a large Yurt by the river on the other side of the farm and we attended a “Wild Game Dinner” there.
We started outside at the outdoor area where there was a timbered bar and fire pit to enjoy aperitifs.
And then we moved into the yurt for a cozy candlelit dinner. Each course was paired with a craft beer from the local beermaker Oxbow.
The Yurt and outside lounge area were just amazing, felt like something straight out of a fairytale!
What to Do Nearby
If you feel like venturing off the farm, there are some fun places to check out. For the craft beer fan you have to visit Odd Alewives, which is located just down the road.
You can read all about that in this article we did for the Boston Herald. And if you want to take in the amazing Maine coast head to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse just 30 minutes away.
But be prepared to walk because the jetty is longer than it appears! And one local dining spot you just have to check out is Morse’s Sauerkraut only a few minutes up the road from Tops’l. Get there early, the locals pack the place on the weekends!
