The South of France isn’t just a summertime destination. Spring and Fall are amazing shoulder seasons to visit as well. Here are three reasons to drop everything and head to Cannes this month!
1) Cannes Sunshine
With only a few days of potential rain each month, even in the Fall, Cannes is still full of sunshine. So, if you will be coming from a cold and dark climate, head to Cannes for a crisp, sunny escape. Stroll the Croisette, head to the beach or just sit at a café, the sunshine is sure to put you in a good mood! A beach day at the Palais Stephanie Beach is always a good idea!
2) The Food in Cannes
Cannes is home to some amazing cuisine. The seaside, French Mediterranean diet is very agreeable. The light flavors, the fresh seafood and the wonderful aromas make for beautiful dishes. One spot you have to visit while in Cannes is Le Roof at the Five Seas Hotel. Located on the rooftop of one of the trendiest hotels in town, Le Roof is exactly what it sounds like, a rooftop bar and restaurant.
Start with some drinks outside on the roof deck next to the pool to enjoy the sunset and then head inside for a gourmet dinner. The menu is purely Mediterranean. Think fresh fish, vegetables and rose. But be sure to not skip dessert either, as the chef puts out some amazing sweets as well! Savor the evening at Le Roof at the Five Seas in Cannes!
3) The Sights
Cannes is filled with sights to see as well! There are the Lerins Islands off the coast, the ancient Old Town, the famous Croisette and all the grand dame hotels made famous by the Film Festival. Spend a few days exploring them all. Take a ferry to St. Marguerite Island to see the fort where they kept the “Man in the Iron Mask”, as well as to take in the view of the coastline. Then trek all the way to the top of the Old Town to the Musee de la Castre for the best 360-degree view of Cannes. And finally, stroll the Croisette to check out the designer shops and famous hotels!
Cannes is one of our favorite places to visit any time of year and the Fall is a fabulous shoulder season to visit. The crowds are gone, the sun is still shining and the Med is still glistening. For more help in planning your trip to Cannes read our other blog posts on this amazing city!
