With new hotspots cropping up everyday, Boston is officially a foodie town. 2017 has seen so many new kids join the seen. Here are 5 places you should be dining out this month.
Cunard Tavern – Explore Eastie
Eastie is quickly becoming the new Southie, i.e. the spot for hip twenty-something’s. With new condos going up and more and more young people moving to the area, the times they are a changing for long time Eastie residents. But with this new wave of Millennials, is also coming some fabulous new dining options, like Cunard Tavern. Elevated comfort food is the name of the game. Starters like the Harissa Braised Beef Waffles and mains like the Seared Scallops with Lobster Salad are good choices. Oh and the drinks aren’t bad either!
Punk & Poet – Beers and Burgers
But fear not Southie kids; Southie is still just as cool! In fact, the new and improved Playwright, aka, Punk & Poet is a cool new take on the old hangout. With a trendy neon sign and a large bar area, this place has all the makings of a Southie hit. And having recently visited on a Saturday night, I can say that the locals like it, it was packed. And it’s no surprise, with friendly service and tasty standbys like burgers and sliders, what’s not to like?
Lion’s Tail – Cocktails and Bar Bites
Located in the always on trend Ink Block, Lion’s Tail is one of the most underrated openings of the year (oh wait maybe that’s because it opened late last year). With a thoughtfully creative menu, there are some refreshing surprises on there. The pork belly and the octopus were amazing, but the menu is refreshed often, so expect new things every time you come in.
Les Sablons – Date Night
Les Sablons is a perfect addition to Harvard Square’s aloof sense of cool. With a high-end menu, chic décor and a vibrant atmosphere, Les Sablons is on its way to becoming the L’Espalier of Cambridge. The plating is immaculate and the flavors are on pointe. This is the place to go when you want to impress your date. And I have to mention that there are 2 dining experience options, the downstairs, casual cool bar or the upstairs formal dining room, which also happens to have a fab bar.
Craigie on Main – Chef’s Whim
Not a new kid, but still a cool kid, Chef Tony Maws is always reimaging and reinventing. And the best way to see that in action is on Sunday nights after 9pm. The only menu offered at this time is his “Chef’s Whim”, which basically means, it’s whatever Tony and team feel like serving at that moment. They use ingredients that haven’t been used during regular dinner service and whip up 6 courses of amazing (or 4 courses if you so choose).
