Cannes is one of our all-time favorite destinations. It has it all, beautiful beaches, gorgeous architecture, the French je ne sais quoi, and one of the best climates in the world. And one of the best ways to enjoy all of this at once is on a rooftop. Our favorite is Le Roof at the Five Seas Hotel.
About the Five Seas Hotel
The Five Seas is a member of Design Hotels and you can tell immediately when you walk in. Whether you are staying at the hotel or not, the rooftop restaurant is worth a try. The hotel is located in the heart of Cannes, just off the Croisette, so it is the perfect place to begin the evening.
Le Roof
Le Roof is exactly what it sounds like, it is a rooftop bar and restaurant. The outside portion is a bar and lounge, offering a fun menu of light bites, cocktails, beer and wine. This is one of my favorite places to enjoy golden hour because you have the best view of the suquet and lots of beautiful buildings that truly turn golden when the sun starts to set each evening.
Start your experience out here on the terrace to enjoy a classically French ritual of the aperitif before dinner. This is something that we just do not have in the United States, the easing into the evening with some laughs over drinks, with no rush to make it to your reservation, as the restaurant is just steps away and the joie de vivre is quite well understood here so if you need more time on the terrace to enjoy the view before heading inside, they will understand. But even when you do head inside, the views don’t stop. The sight of the suquet is just as amazing as the sun tends to linger there the longest each night and then this sight turns into a twinkling hillside once the sun does finally set.
The kitchen is helmed by Chef Lori Moreau. She creates modern Mediterranean dishes with style and fresh ingredients. Your meal is sure to be as lively as the sights and sounds of your trip to Cannes itself. Here are a few of the lovely dishes that we tried on our recent trip this summer.
A visit to Le Roof is a must if you are visiting Cannes this fall!
